Former President Donald Trump won Georgia’s 16 electoral votes in the early morning hours Wednesday in the Nov. 5 General Election as he was declared the projected 47th Commander-in-Chief of the United States as he regained the Oval Office as he outdistanced Vice President Kamala Harris.

Nichols cashes in re-election victory

The Nov. 5 election brought a huge turnout on the federal, statewide and local levels as voters had a lengthy ballot that included three amendments from the state, a local SPLOST and special referendums for the City of Clayton.

Volunteers, legislators take supplies to hurricane victims

The collective strength of residents in western North Carolina and eastern Tennessee was even more on display during early voting for the Nov. 5 General Election as, despite areas being ravaged by the devastation of September’s Hurricane Helene, voters turned out in record numbers.

County keeps SPLOST going with new projects

Rabun Countians showed out to the polls in large numbers for the Nov. 5 General Election. The county-wide Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) passed with 6,262 voters choosing “Yes” and 3,694 voting “No.

K9 Doug retires from Rabun sheriff’s office

After seven years of dedicated service to the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO), 8-year-old K9 Doug has retired. Sgt. Brandon Hyer, K9 trainer for the K9 Program and investigator with CID, was K9 Doug’s Handler.

Accused murderer of Cornelia woman reportedly living in U.S. illegally

Rabun Pickleball Club Hurricane Benefit

On Oct. 10, the Rabun Pickleball Club hosted a hurricane relief benefit function at the Universal Joint in Clayton. Local band Sweet Charity donated their time and talents for a fun evening. The event raised over $2500 to help hurricane Helene victims in North Carolina and Georgia.
