Winter weather break offers time

ATLANTA – While the temperatures have warmed up and it feels like spring has arrived in Georgia, additional cold weather may return in the coming weeks.

A large crowd of Rabun County Democrats warmly welcomed Tammy Whitmire, elections and voter registration director, as she spoke at their monthly meeting on Feb. 10.

Positive rabies cases in District 2 Public Health

A coyote tested positive for rabies after a person was bitten in Lumpkin County on Feb. 5. The exposed person has since received medical attention. On the same day, a bat was tested for rabies in Forsyth County, but the lab determined the specimen was unsatisfactory.

With age comes wisdom and Lt. J.G. Dr. Eldred Causey imparted his wisdom to “go with the flow” at his 101st Birthday celebration during February’s Vet-to-Vet Cafe that fell on his birthday on Tuesday, Feb. 11.

Community members had the opportunity to express their views about HB 581 at a public forum on Jan. 30 hosted by Rabun County Commissioners Scott Crane and Kent Woerner.
