VFW Post 4570 leaders are Army veterans

Rabun County is blessed to be the home of many veterans who proudly served in the United States military. Gary Cantwell is commander for VFW Post 4570 and Jon Jones is quartermaster for VFW Post 4570.

Ceremony to be held at courthouse on Veterans Day

There are many ways veterans can be appreciated by the communities they live in. In Rabun County, there is no shortage of people honoring the brave men and women who sacrificed much. Each year a ceremony is held at the military monument in front of the Rabun County Courthouse, 25 Courthouse Sq.

Veterans Appreciation Dinner honors brave men, women

Rabun County supports the brave men and women who have served in the United States military. It’s important to thank veterans for their sacrifice and honor their bravery. Those courageous men and women answered the call to duty and put their lives on the line for the freedoms we have today.

Story wins BOE Post 5 write-in election

This year’s Nov. 5 election made history locally as there were no candidates who qualified listed on the ballot for the Post 5 Board of Education seat. Instead, for the first time in at least 20 years, three qualified write-in candidates ran for the post.
