Appalachian culture comes to life at Foxfire Mountaineer Festival

Fall is in the air and the annual Foxfire Mountaineer Festival is coming to Clayton next weekend. The festival now will be held Saturday, Oct. 8, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Rabun County Civic Center, 201 West Savannah Street, Clayton. Tickets are $8 and children ages 5 and under are free.

Council approves city manager pay raise

CLAYTON– Clayton City Council members approved a salary raise for City Manager Trudy Crunkleton to $70,000 from her starting salary of $62,000. The raise becomes effective next month when Crunkleton officially has been in the position for six months.

Corn, kilts & BBQ

Whether it’s celebrating corn; having a BBQ with volunteer firefighters; or being a spectator for the North Georgia Highland Games, there’s something for everyone on Saturday, Sept. 24. The Inaugural Tiger Corn Festival is popping up this Saturday from 9 a.m. until about 2 p.m.

Clayton’s future ‘centers’ on development

CLAYTON– The City of Clayton might be seeing a new entertainment and municipal venue coming its way in the distant future as Mayor Kurt Cannon unveiled concept plans for the Civic Cultural Center of Clayton, a facility to be utilized by Rabun County residents and visitors.

‘American Pickers’ coming to film in Georgia

The “American Pickers” are excited to return to Georgia. They plan to film episodes of The History Channel hit television series throughout areas of Georgia in December. American Pickers is a documentary series that explores the fascinating world of antique “picking” on The History Channel.
