Timing was perfect when the Lord Jesus Christ placed Robert “Bob” and Jean Alexander in each other’s lives during a college English class in 1962. The couple met at Bob Jones University after an alphabetical assigned-seating change moved Jean, whose maiden name is Hamilton, to the seat behind Bob.

Man air lifted after sustaining burns from fire

A man was transported by Air Life helicopter after sustaining burns while attempting to stomp out a hay bale fire Tuesday afternoon. The fire occurred in a field near the intersection of Highway 246 and Lamb Rd.

FAITH losing $400,000 in funds

Council hires DeFoor as new city manager of Dillard

DILLARD– Dillard City Council members voted Tuesday to hire Roy DeFoor as the City Manager for the City of Dillard. “I think Roy (DeFoor) will be a great addition to us,” said Mayor Claude Dillard at the council meeting.

EMS honors Quilliams for 26 years of service

Rabun County Emergency Medical Services honored EMT-I Stephanie Quilliams for 26 years of service at a surprise party at Station 1 on Jan. 25. “We hate to see her go,” said Mike Carnes, EMS/911 director. He described her as being a reliable employee. “She’s an exceptional EMT.

Tallulah Falls School announces 2022 STAR Student and Teacher

Each year, an academic highlight for the senior class is the announcement of the Tallulah Falls School STAR Student and STAR Teacher. Jingyi “Jason” Sang of Shangai, China earned the highest score on the SAT and is currently in the top five percent of this year’s graduating class.

Save Georgia’s Hemlocks treats Sky Valley trees

A group of 19 facilitators and volunteers treated the hemlocks along the Mud Creek waterfall trail in Sky Valley against an invasive insect on a chilly day in December.

Judge grants motion to revoke bond in homicide by vehicle case

A motion by the State to revoke bond for Jaime Avila Reyes in a case of Homicide by Vehicle in the First Degree was granted by Mountain Judicial Circuit Superior Court Judge B. Chan Caudell at a hearing Tuesday.
