Commissioners discuss larger building for new sheriff’s office

Plans to build a larger building for the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office to store evidence and training equipment was discussed among commissioners Tuesday. Commissioners passed a “motion to begin steps for developing this project to pursue this building.” The building would be 2,400 sq. ft.

Rabun County Schools FBLA is on the Move

During the month of August 2021: -Donated to the book drop at the Tiger Post Office. During the month of October 2021: -Students participated in the Stock Market Challenge which gave them a fictional sum of money and allowed them to trade and buy stocks.

On Campus magazine cover features student artwork

The release of the Fall 2021 issue of On Campus magazine delivered a surprise to Tallulah Falls School senior Chloe Kahwach of Cleveland. Kahwach created the artwork for the cover in Tina Cheek’s art class. The seasonal scene evokes the beauty of the mountains surrounding Tallulah Falls School.

Library Food for Fines program successful

The Food for Fines program at the Rabun County Public Library during December was a successful event, according to Library Manager Dyana Costello Banks. “With the success of Food for Fines, we plan on doing it again next year,” Banks said. “[It’s] to support our local community.

Three-vehicle accident in Clayton results in Jan. 20 minor injuries

CLAYTON– A three-vehicle crash on Georgia 15 at Rickman Street on Jan. 20 resulted in minor injuries. A 2013 Honda CRV, driven by Ethel Hopkins, 82, of Tiger, was traveling north on Georgia 15 in the left lane. Hopkins failed to obey a traffic control device and ran the red light.

Two-vehicle crash in Tiger results in injuries

TIGER– A two-vehicle collision on Georgia 15 at the Rabun County Senior Center in Tiger Jan. 13 resulted in minor injuries. Georgia State Patrol (GSP) Post 7 Toccoa was requested to investigate the collision at approximately 2:33 p.m.

Clayton structure fire cause under investigation

CLAYTON– The cause of a structure fire in Clayton Tuesday afternoon is under investigation, according to James Reed, chief of Rabun County Fire Services, in a statement. Rabun County Fire Services Stations 1,3 and 12 were dispatched for a structure fire at 453 Dan Crane Rd. at 4:31 p.m. Jan. 25.

Clayton council announces plan to resolve SDS dispute

CLAYTON– The years-long dispute between the city of Clayton and Rabun County Government regarding the Service Delivery Strategy (SDS) might soon be coming to an end. Clayton council members announced Tuesday a plan to resolve SDS litigation.
