Resurfacing of roads on Mountain City's FY 2022 budget

MOUNTAIN CITY– Mountain City council members passed its $375,896.73 FY 2022 budget at a Dec. 14 council meeting. Last year’s budget was $372,872.63. Among projects for the year is the resurfacing of city roads. Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) grants are budgeted at $17,416.

Students learn joy of giving during holidays

Rabun County Primary School students in Rachel Dixon and Parapro Beth Thompson’s second grade class recently learned the importance and joy of giving at Christmas by providing meals to Rabun County first responders.

COVID-19 cases rapidly increase over holiday weekend

COVID-19 cases have rapidly increased over the holiday weekend, according to a statement from District 2 Public Health Monday. The number of cases nearly doubled in Georgia since Friday due to the Omicron variant.

Santa Claus and Mrs. Hollie Claus greet children at the Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate company in Clayton on Dec. 17. They passed out cookies and candy canes and spoke with children about their Christmas wishes. The pair gives gifts to children in need in the community.

Exercise caution with home heating equipment

ATLANTA – Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King asks all Georgians to exercise caution while using home heating equipment this winter. If used carelessly, heating equipment such as space heaters and fireplaces can become fire hazards.

Pit Vipers finish 2021 season ‘smoking hot’

The Tallulah Falls School Pit Vipers competition barbecue team finished the 2021 BBQ season as repeat state champions in the Georgia BBQ Championship Series.
