Robinson steps down after 20 years as mayor

DILLARD– Dillard city officials bid Mayor Bill Robinson farewell after serving 20 years as mayor. Council Member Claude Dillard will take office as the new mayor in January. Robinson was presented with a plaque to honor his service to the city, at a reception following Tuesday’s council meeting.

Rabun County announces STAR Student and Teacher

TIGER– Rabun County High School recently announced its 2021-2022 STAR Student for a senior who enjoys physics with an aspiration of attending Georgia Tech to become a civil engineer. Aidan Thompson is the STAR Student with an SAT score of 1480 out of 1600.

CLAYTON– MedLink Georgia has bought the Georgia Mountain Market building in Clayton, confirmed Dave Ward, chief executive officer of MedLink Georgia, Inc. – Family Health Center, Monday. “MedLink was excited to learn that the Georgia Mountain Market building had come available for sale.

Parade welcomes season

An estimated 1,000-plus spectators in the holiday spirit lined Main Street in Clayton Dec. 4 as the “HomeTown”-themed annual Christmas parade ushered in the season for Rabun Countians.

Getting on level with lakes

Reservoir drawdowns and refills for Lake Burton and Lake Rabun are scheduled to continue through the end of December and into next year.

North Georgia Community Foundation awards Paws 4 Life grant

The North Georgia Community Foundation (NGCF) awarded a $6,619 grant to Rabun Paws 4 Life to purchase additional equipment for the shelter’s surgery suite.

Bonnie Edmonds is a Northern cook in a Southern kitchen. She owns Clayton Cafe on Main Street in Clayton and held a signing for her and Tom Edwards’s cookbook “A Northern Cook in a Southern Kitchen,” where she signed copies for community members to buy.
