New assistant superintendent brings positive message

TIGER-- Educating and having a positive impact on students have always been in the heart of Matt Remillard.  And he’s bringing that passion and care he has for serving students to his new role as assistant superintendent of Rabun County Schools.

Officers study tactics to combat litter problem

Two dozen local law enforcement officers gathered at the Rabun County Civic Center last Thursday to learn the latest strategies and tactics for combating litter and roadside pollution. The Litter Law Enforcement Workshop was a half-day event sponsored by Forward Rabun and Keep Rabun Beautiful.

Food Bank unveils new logo

CLAYTON-- The Food Bank of Northeast Georgia unveiled its new logo last week.  The Food Bank logo was reworked after a decade, said Sherry Anderson, director of administration for the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia.

Hamburgers, hotdogs, and fireworks part of Fourth celebrations

Rabun County was filled with smells of hamburgers and hotdogs sizzling on the grill, barbeque cooked to perfection and the laughter of friends and families celebrating Independence Day with patriotic festivities over the weekend.

Merem Health purchases med building in Clayton

CLAYTON—A company owned by the Chief Executive Officer of Mountain Lakes Medical Center recently purchased a Clayton building that houses the North Georgia Eye Clinic and one of two local Medlink locations. Merem Health, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Merem Capital of Birmingham, Ala.

The bison were found at Badger Rd., about two miles from their home on Dandelion Lane.

Missing buffalo return with new addition: Calf named 'Chase Elliott'

PERSIMMON-- Where do the buffalo roam?  Apparently, back home where they belong-- along with with a newborn calf.  A herd of bison owned by Mary Serra and Mike English were finally located and returned back to their 48-acre farm on June 24 after being missing for 12 days.

Habitat receives $450,000 for local housing

Habitat for Humanity of Rabun County was recently awarded a $450,000 grant from the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA), said Barbara Anderson, chair of fundraising for Habitat for Humanity of Rabun County.
