’Cats fall twice to Union in final region baseball series

After losing two of three to Union County last week, the Rabun County baseball Wildcats will be the Region 8 fourth-seeds for the Class AA state tourney.  The Panthers won the opening game of the series April 13 in Tiger before the teams split a doubleheader last Friday in Blairsville.

TFS track and field teams place second at George Walton

The Tallulah Falls boys track and field squad placed second of 12 teams and the girls second of 10 teams last Thursday while setting personal-bests at George Walton Academy.  The boys’ 134 points only trailed Winder-Barrow’s 162, and the girls’ 99 only trailed Hebron Christian’s 179.5.

Tallulah Falls golfers Brinson Hall and Maggie Jackson posted record-setting performances last week in two competitions at Apple Mountain.  Last Saturday, the Lady Indians placed seventh at the Lady Warrior Spring Fling as Hall reset school marks at 34 for nine holes and 72 for 18.

Big fourth inning sends Eagles past Wildcats

Rabun Gap-Nacoochee erupted for eight fourth-inning runs last Thursday in a 10-2 triumph at Rabun County.  The teams were tied 1-1 after three before the Eagles sent 12 batters to the plate in the fourth.
