’Cats pull level in Region 8-AA, sweep Riverside

A three-game sweep of Riverside Military last week pulled the Rabun County baseball Wildcats to 3-3 in Region 8-AA action.  Grant Britton drove in seven of Rabun’s 41 runs in the series, and Brody Jarrard and Jarret Giles each scored seven.

Corbett resigns as hoops coach

After 51 wins over three seasons, Tallulah Falls School head girls basketball coach Brandy Corbett is stepping away from her coaching duties at the school, saying the time was right for her to step down from the post.

Bryson commits to Minnesota

Coleman Bryson made his presence felt as a defensive back, running back and kick returner at Rabun Gap-Nacoochee last season.  With 24 college offers from major programs all over the country, the multitalented junior committed March 21 to the University of Minnesota.

Indians take two from George Walton, fall to Prince Avenue

After taking two of the three last week from Region 8-A Private rival George Walton, the Tallulah Falls baseball Indians dropped the opener of a three-game league series Monday to visiting Prince Avenue Christian.  TFS still stood 10-5 overall and 5-2 in region play following the loss.

Tallulah boys, girls are second at Wesleyan

Piling up victories, state rankings and personal records, the Tallulah Falls School girls and boys track and field teams each placed second in four-school competitions March 24 at Wesleyan.  The boys amassed 67 points, behind Flowery Branch (104) and ahead of Wesleyan (29) and St. Francis (25).

Rabun Gap boys start season with two lopsided victories

The Rabun Gap-Nacoochee boys tennis Eagles tore through their first two matches, trouncing host Walhalla March 23, and shutting out the visiting Asheville Trailblazers Monday.  In their opener, the Eagles didn’t drop a set in the best-of-three singles format, and won eight of 10 sets 6-0.

Wildcat soccer sweeps Banks; boys tumble to Riverside

The Rabun County High soccer squads swept through Banks County March 23, the girls again dominating, 9-1 and the boys doubling up the Leopards, 2-1. Lauren Barnes maintained her torrid goal-scoring pace, netting eight and assisting on the other by Abby Sego. RCHS led, 5-0 at intermission.

TFS boys, girls split 8-A Private soccer matches

Visits from Region 8-A Private rivals Prince Avenue Christian and Athens Academy last week resulted in splits for both the Tallulah Falls boys and girls soccer squads.  TFS swept Prince Avenue March 23, the girls posting a 3-0 shutout, and the boys getting a Sammy Davis hat trick in a 6-3 triumph.
