RCHS girls top Union; boys fall twice

Lauren Barnes raised her goal total to 21, netting five March 9 in the Lady soccer Wildcats’ 6-3 dismissal of visiting Region 8-AA rival Union County.  The defense, according to head coach Brad Holcombe, played very well in a big momentum boost and a huge region triumph.

Tallulah Falls splits final two contests before region slate

In their last two games before the Region 8-A Private schedule starts, the Tallulah Falls School baseball Indians stifled East Jackson and lost at home to Elbert County last week.  Head coach Justin Pollock saw positives as the Indians took a 5-3 mark into region play beginning this week.

No-hitter, grand slam highlight Rabun Gap diamond triumphs

Last week was a productive one for Rabun Gap baseball Eagles, who allowed just five runs combined over three road victories while scoring 33 and rising to 6-3 on the season.  Alex Cordero and Buddy Howard combined on a no-hitter last Saturday at Greensboro Day.

TFS second and third, RCHS sixth at River Ridge meet

The Tallulah Falls School girls placed second and the boys third, and Rabun County sixth in both divisions last Friday at the River Ridge Classic track and field meet in Cleveland.  Out of seven teams, the Indian girls posted 103 points and the boys 101.

RCHS golfers tee off season at Towns; boys 10th at tournament

The Rabun County High boys and girls golf teams opened their seasons last week with matches at Towns County and a tournament in Clarkesville.  Playing to a par-37 last Thursday at Brasstown Valley, Garrett Horton fired a 41 and Connor Horton a 42 for the boys.

Tallulah splits region soccer doubleheader

The Tallulah Falls School girls soccer squad bagged its third victory overall and in Region 8-A Private play, and the boys slipped to 2-2 in league matches last Friday at George Walton.

Rabun County, Tallulah netters claim victories on court

The Rabun County High and Tallulah Falls School tennis programs split matches last Thursday at the Indian courts, part of a busy week for both. Both schools also divided non-region matches with Habersham Central, and Tallulah and Region 8-A Private rival Athens Christian played to a split.

Wildcats’ run ends in Thomasville

A tough shooting start spelled trouble for the Rabun County boys hoopsters March 3, as host Thomasville halted the Wildcats’ memorable postseason tear in a 64-53 Class AA quarterfinal.  Connor McKay paced three ’Cats in double figures, scoring a game-high 22 with 16 rebounds.
