Indians, Eagles play to split on diamond

Rabun Gap entered last Saturday afternoon’s doubleheader at Tallulah Falls at .500, and the Indians two games above that.  They both stayed that way after a split.  Trent Thomas’ six strong innings highlighted Tallulah’s 8-5 win in the opener, despite the Indians being outhit.

Tallulah soccer boys topple RCHS; girls battle to draw

Tallulah Falls and Rabun County High were busy on the soccer pitch last week, the schools clashing in a doubleheader at TFS and both scoring lopsided region victories.  RCHS was slated to host Region 8-AA rival Union County Tuesday, March 9. The boys welcome Riverside Military Friday.

Home wins over Riverside Military and Bethlehem Christian last week were the second and third for the Tallulah Falls baseball Indians.  The Region 8-A Private opener is nearing, scheduled for next Tuesday, March 16, against visiting Loganville Christian.

Records tumble in TFS track opener at Mill Creek

The TFS track and field team opened the 2021 season at the Jerry Arnold Challenge in Hoschton at Mill Creek High.  Of the individual performances for the TFS athletes, Simeon Respress, Grey Bourlet, Evan Prince and Macy Murdock recorded top-10 performances in their respective events.

Lady Indian netters roll past White, 5-0

The Tallulah Falls girls netters dropped just one set in five matches and the boys fell due to being short in numbers last Friday against visiting White County.  From No. 1 to No. 3 singles, Maggie Peacock won, 6-4, 6-0; Gigi Welch prevailed, 6-4, 6-3; and Evette Corwin triumphed, 6-4, 6-2.

’Cats make waves at state, reach first Elite Eight

The Rabun County boys hoopsters went to Rome last Saturday searching for a second-round Class AA state playoff win. They returned with a landmark victory for the program.

Ladycats’ season ends at Columbia

The Ladycat dribblers’ hunt for a state championship ended last Saturday afternoon in Decatur, missed opportunities and Columbia playmaker India Terrell among the culprits in a 50-41 second-round Class AA defeat.
