Quick start propels TFS boys to victory over Wesleyan

A big first quarter paved the way for the Tallulah Falls boys cagers’ third win last Saturday, 56-38 over visiting Wesleyan.  The Indians (3-2) sprinted to a 15-3 advantage in the opening stanza and pulled away as the game progressed.

’Cat boys fall to Stephens, Walhalla

A weekend road loss at Walhalla, S.C. and a home defeat to Stephens County kept the Rabun County High boys dribblers searching for their first win.  The Wildcats host Walhalla tonight in a rematch and Oconee County Monday, then visit Dawson County Tuesday.

Rabun Middle weightlifters go virtual for national competition

Rabun County Middle student-athletes Harrison Word, Carver Jarrard, Parker Smith and Adam Wright competed last Thursday and Friday in their first National Weightlifting Championship at the school.

Wildcats strike early, pass opening-round test

Scoring on four of their first five possessions, the Rabun County Wildcats opened a huge early lead last Saturday and bounced visiting Haralson County from the Class AA playoffs, 35-7.

RCHS, Model duel for Elite Eight spot

Every team left in the state football playoffs is dangerous. Rome-based Model, Rabun County’s next opponent, is no exception. The teams tangle for the first time ever Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Frank Snyder Memorial Stadium with the Class AA quarterfinals at stake.

Balanced attack lifts Eagles over Stephens

Putting five players in double figures, the Rabun Gap-Nacoochee boys cagers defeated host Stephens County, 83-73 for their second win Nov. 24. The Eagles’ high scorer was Nate Brafford, who netted 17 points with seven rebounds and three steals.

Indians net first victory

Sammy Davis tossed in a game-high 21 points Nov. 24, leading the Tallulah Falls boys cagers to their first win, 57-22 over Monsignor Donovan. At North Oconee, the Indians raced to a 31-19 halftime lead and improved to 1-1.

Stephens girls upend Rabun Gap, 54-43

Claudia Lopez netted a game-high 22 points, but the Rabun Gap-Nacoochee girls tumbled, 54-43 at Stephens County Nov. 24. Lopez hit 7-of-13 from the floor, and 3-of-6 on three-point attempts. She also grabbed two rebounds as RGNS slipped to 0-2.
