Next-level Indians make lifelong dreams a reality on National Signing Day

A pair of star student-athletes at Tallulah Falls School put pen to paper, making good on their verbal commitments to their respective college of choice. Maggie Jackson and Katy Corbett each had a separate signing ceremony on Wednesday, Nov. 11, which was early National Signing Day.

’Cats bolt to big early lead, clobber Elbert

Even by their sky-high offensive standards, the Wildcats’ opening quarter last Friday at Elbert County was one to savor. Ending the suspense instantly, Rabun County scored on three of its first four plays and bagged five first-period touchdowns in a 63-7 Region 8-AA waltz at the Granite Bowl.

Region 8-AA crown at stake as Wildcats, Panthers tangle

The last obstacle between the Wildcats and a seventh straight Region 8-AA title is a very familiar one. The Friday home game with Union County will be the 54th lifetime between the schools, breaking a tie with Franklin, N.C., for Rabun’s most games against any opponent.

RGNS wins sixth, stifles Union

Stepping away from North Carolina competition, Rabun Gap-Nacoochee closed the regular season and prepped for the playoffs last Thursday by muzzling Union County, 21-6 in Blairsville.

RCHS cross-country places eighth, 16th at state

The Rabun County High cross-country teams brought home eighth- and 16th-place finishes from the Class AA state meet last Saturday in Carrollton.  “All my athletes had a great attitude and ran their best race with no regrets when they crossed the finish line,” RCHS coach April Adcock said.
