Christ School tops Eagles with last-second kick

Visiting Rabun Gap-Nacoochee beat Christ School in the final seconds Sept. 25. Last Saturday, the Greenies returned the favor on the Eagles’ turf.  Fernando Machuca-Urbizo’s 31-yard field goal on the last play brought Rabun Gap’s first defeat, 38-35.

Lady Indians get No. 2 region seed for state

The Tallulah Falls School volleyball squad took the No. 2 seed from Region 8-A Private into the state tournament, which was scheduled to start this week.  Already assured a state spot, the Lady Indians dismissed George Walton Academy, 25-17, 25-12, 25-18 in the region semifinals last Thursday.

TFS welcomes runners to Harrier Harvest

Teams from all over attended the ninth-annual Harrier Harvest cross-country Festival Oct. 13 hosted by Tallulah Falls School.  The Rabun County High girls, led by Molly Jo Wright’s fifth-place individual finish, placed second as a team.

Tallulah netters sweep middle-school titles

The Tallulah Falls School middle-school boys and girls tennis teams concluded their seasons with championships in the Southern Mountain League tournament earlier this month.  The boys team defeated Habersham in a semifinal, 3-0, and Rabun County Middle, 4-1, in the championship.

Eagles net two shutouts

With two more blowout wins Monday and last Thursday, the Rabun Gap-Nacoochee boys soccer team improved to a stellar 10-2. The Eagles won their eighth straight match Monday, scoring twice in the first four minutes of a 7-0 trampling of visiting Bob Jones Academy.

Wildcats visit Pope on Friday

After setting a host of school marks last week, the third-ranked Wildcats’ four-game road swing continues Friday night at Region 6-6A Pope. This will be Rabun County’s first scuffle with the Marietta-based Greyhounds, who have won their last two to stand 2-2 on the year.

RCMS seeks rebound after loss to Stephens

A 36-7 home loss last Thursday to visiting Stephens County was the first for the Rabun Middle football Wildcats. “The score was not indicative of how the kids played,” RCMS head coach C.J. Stockel said.

Lady softball 'Cats eye state tournament

  The Rabun County High softball team was limited to six hits total over defeats to Union County and Elbert County Oct. 6 in the Region 8-AA tournament. Ayahna Jenkins and Mili Watts, both 1-for-3, had Rabun’s lone hits in a 5-1 defeat to Union.
