Charlotte Latin halts Eagles’ win string

Charlotte Latin Day snapped the Rabun Gap-Nacoochee boys’ six-game win streak Dec. 22, prevailing, 73-64 at the Metrolina Christian Warrior Classic. In Indian Trail, N.C., the Eagles got 16 points from N’fari Benjamin and 13 from Ricardas Butkus yet slipped to 6-2. Both sank three-pointers.

Wildcats notch all-region football accolades

Befitting a dominant league champion, Rabun County High covered the all-Region 8-AA football lineup, including honors for the top overall player, offensive and defensive player and coach.  Gunner Stockton made all-region at quarterback and was named overall Player of the Year.

Rabun Gap boys soar to 6-1 with three victories

Two wins in South Carolina and another at Metrolina Christian extended the Rabun Gap-Nacoochee boys’ win streak to six and their record to 6-1.  The Eagles were scheduled to play Charlotte Latin Day Tuesday, Dec. 22, at the Metrolina Warrior Classic near Charlotte, N.C.

The Rabun County High dribblers split their openers Monday at the Kelly King Holiday Classic in Dahlonega, the girls winning by three and the boys tumbling by 14.  The girls were scheduled to play Cambridge and the boys were to oppose Northview Tuesday, Dec.

Tallulah girls win seventh; boys top Walhalla

The Tallulah Falls girls hoopsters split two home games last week and headed into the holiday break 7-3, and the boys won their fourth straight to improve to 6-2.  The boys return to the court Friday, Jan.

’Cats work overtime to reach final four

Three down, two to go.  The Rabun County Wildcats reached the Class AA semifinals last Friday night, with Gunner Stockton’s 1-yard overtime plunge closing a dramatic 27-24 triumph over visiting Bleckley County and keeping dreams of a state title burning bright.
