Rabun Gap boys prevail, girls fall in North Carolina doubleheader

A hoops doubleheader last weekend in North Carolina featured the Rabun Gap-Nacoochee boys’ ninth triumph, and the Eagle girls lost a Monday tussle at Stephens County. According to the RGNS website, the boys and girls will travel today to Bob Jones Academy in Greenville, S.C.

TFS swimmers place second, fifth at meet

The Tallulah Falls School varsity girls swimmers placed second and the boys fifth out of six teams last Saturday at the Shiver Me Timbers Invitational in Clarkesville.

Ladycats win three, rise to 9-0

Ranked second in Class AA, the Rabun County Ladycat dribblers rose to 9-0 with victories last week over visiting Stephens County, Fannin County and Franklin County.  The Ladycats will host Rabun Gap-Nacoochee tonight and Towns County Saturday.

RCHS boys beat Commerce, Fannin for first two wins

The Rabun County High boys hoopsters closed the 2020 portion of their schedule with their first two wins of the season, over visiting Commerce and Fannin County. The 2021 segment started inauspiciously, as Franklin County rallied from double figures down to win by three in Tiger.

Eagles, Hart divide basketball doubleheader

The Rabun Gap-Nacoochee boys cagers got back on the winning track and the girls fell by a single point Monday in a doubleheader at Hart County. The boys improved to 7-2, outpointing the Bulldogs, 29-19 in the fourth quarter to escape, 87-82.

TFS names December Indians of the Month

Tallulah Falls School has named its Indians of the Month winners for December.  Veronaye Charlton (basketball) High school girl During December, the Lady Indians went 5-1 due in large part to Charlton’s contributions on and off the floor.

TFS swimmers post personal-bests at meet

The Tallulah Falls School swimmers had a promising showing over Christmas break at Habersham Central’s Hot Chocolate Invitational.  The middle-school girls placed fourth out of eight teams while middle-school boys were sixth out of eight teams.

Davis wins three Florida events

Bodybuilding champion Iris Davis has boosted her title haul to 15, winning three times at Florida competitions in September, October and November. Her most recent successes came at the Atlantic Coast Pro event at the Westin resort in Fort Lauderdale.

Ladycats are co-champs at Lumpkin tourney

With two victories over Class 7A schools and another over a Class 6A program, the Rabun County High girls hoopsters stayed unbeaten and were co-champions last week at a Lumpkin County tournament.
