Wildcat boys third in 8-AA after bouncing Union, 73-55

The Rabun County boys hoopsters entered the state shootout on a winning note, blasting Union County, 73-55 in the Region 8-AA tournament’s third-place game Feb. 17 at Banks County.  Down two early, the Wildcats (7-20) went on a 19-2 tear and led, 23-8 early in the second.

Rabun Gap girls close with NCISAA tourney defeat at Cannon School

The Rabun County High baseball Wildcats used a late rally to subdue Tallulah Falls Feb. 17 in Tiger, and the Indians hit the win column two days later at home.

Rabun Gap tumbles in opening baseball twinbill at North Hall

The Rabun Gap-Nacoochee baseball Eagles returned home from North Hall last Saturday with a doubleheader loss on the season’s opening date.  The Trojans, who play in Region 7-AAA of the Georgia High School Association, won 11-3 and 13-3, the second result in five innings.

RCHS netters split Habersham clash, fall at Stephens

The Rabun County High girls tennis team collected its second victory last week at Habersham Central, but the girls and boys netters both fell a day later at Stephens County. A scheduled Monday, Feb. 22, home match with White County was reset for Monday, March 8, in Tiger.

Natatorium opens on TFS campus

After several years of construction, the new natatorium at Tallulah Falls School is now open. On Feb. 17, Ron Cantrell of Ron Cantrell Construction, Inc. delivered a commemorative key to President and Head of School Larry A. Peevy.

Tallulah boys tennis squad ties Banks; girls edged

Home matches with Banks County Feb. 16 resulted in a defeat and a rare stalemate for the Tallulah Falls School tennis teams.  The boys finished in a 2-2 draw, as the No. 2 doubles match was not played. The Leopard girls won two of three singles and split the doubles for a 3-2 win.

RCHS soccer gets draw, loss in trip to Stephens

The Rabun County High soccer teams brought back a draw and a one-goal loss from a non-region doubleheader last Friday night at Stephens County.  The Wildcat boys and girls were scheduled to host Hart County Tuesday, Feb. 23, then open Region 8-AA action Friday at Elbert County.

Ladycats advance to Region 8-AA final

The Rabun County High basketball Ladycats won the two regular-season meetings with Banks County by an average of 23 points.  They didn’t hurt that average last Friday while securing a Region 8-AA finals spot and home-court advantage for the state opener.
