RCHS boys hoopsters tumble to Dawson, Oconee, Walhalla

Continuing their non-region schedule, the Rabun County High boys hoopsters dropped three contests between last Thursday and Tuesday.  Both the Wildcat boys and girls were slated to play tonight at Fannin County, and the boys will host Habersham Central Saturday afternoon.

TFS golfer Hall signs to play at Troy

Tallulah Falls School senior golf standout Brinson Hall signed her letter of intent with Troy University Dec. 9 at TFS, just days after making her verbal commitment. Troy, a Division I school in Alabama, competes in the Sunbelt Conference.

Personal-bests plentiful for TFS swimmers at Winter Snow meet

After a month’s worth of hard work, the Tallulah Falls School swim teams had their third competition last Saturday at the Ruby Fulbright Aquatic Center in Clarkesville.  More than 90 percent of TFS swimmers achieved personal-bests at the annual Winter Snow competition.

Wildcats silence Model, advance to Elite Eight

As the final seconds melted away in the first half last Friday, the Wildcat offense hovered around midfield. Rabun County’s previous two drives ended in punts, and a 14-0 halftime lead over Model seemed inevitable.  “Why not take a shot?” RCHS head coach Jaybo Shaw said.

Bleckley stands between ’Cats and semifinals

As the number of teams dwindles in the Class AA football playoff bracket, so does the margin for error for title hopefuls. Rabun County and Bleckley County have never played, and Friday night’s initial meeting at Frank Snyder Memorial Stadium will identify a state semifinalist.

RCHS girls rise to 3-0

With victories last Thursday and Saturday, the second-ranked Rabun County High girls hoopsters improved to 3-0 on the season.  A Tuesday, Dec. 8, home game against Stephens County was cancelled. The Ladycats will host Walhalla tonight, then visit Dawson County Tuesday.

Wilson to play at Truett-McConnell

Since he started playing at age 5, Brady Wilson’s plan was to play baseball in college. The Rabun County Wildcat will get his shot after signing last week with nearby Truett-McConnell University.  “I’ve always wanted to play collegiately, didn’t matter where,” he said.

Three wins boost Tallulah Falls girls to 5-2

The Tallulah Falls girls dribblers shook off two close losses with three straight wins last week over Bethlehem Christian, Towns County and Woodland-Stockbridge. The Lady Indians stood 5-2 ahead of a Tuesday, Dec. 8, visit to Union County. They host Bethlehem in a rematch Friday.
