Final camp of summer next week when volleyball takes the court

The “Lady Wildcat Volleyball Camp” hosted by Rabun County High School volleyball head coach April Jones will be next week from July 25-27 in the high school gym for school-aged girls between third and sixth grades. The high school volleyball team will be working with the middle school team.

Stockel’s strong Career

C.J. Stockel of the Rabun County Schools was inducted in June in Nashville, Tenn., into the National High School Strength Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Stockel is part of only the second-ever NHSSCA induction class.

More than 70 boys between the ages of 5 and 12 participated in the Junior Wildcat Football Camp at the Rabun County High School Proving Ground practice field Monday through Wednesday.

Lake Burton Fun Run draws 1,300

The July 2 Lake Burton Fun Run top finisher was 17-year-old Carson Speer from Atlanta with a time of 10:48.51. Second and third place finishers both were from Clarkesville with 20-year-old Thomas Hotard with 11:01.00 and 17-year-old Ryan Martin at 11:16.86.

Golf fundraiser for county student-athletes July 22

Come out and support a great fundraiser for Rabun County student-athletes on Friday, July 22, at the 2022 Rabun County Athletic Booster Club Wildcat Open Golf Tournament. The tournament will be held at the Kingwood Resort Golf Course, with registration beginning at 11:30 a.m.

40 players participate in the two-man tourney at Kingwood

It was a warm day for the Northeast Georgia mountains, but those who took to the links on June 22 for the Rabun County Recreation Department tournament at Kingwood Golf Club & Resort had an enjoyable day.

Rodeo at arena Thursday, Friday evenings

Thursday and Friday will offer rodeo action at the Rabun Arena with plenty of excitement -- bucking broncos, barrel racing, calf roping, steer wrestling and bull riding come to town. The gates at the covered arena on Thursday, June 30, and Friday, July 1, will open both nights at 6 p.m.
