2023 shad season opens midnight Jan. 1

Submitted SOCIAL CIRCLE, Ga. (December 15, 2022) - Commercial fishermen can take to the water beginning at 12 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2023, to take advantage of the opening day of shad season, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Division (WRD).

Lady Cats coast to two 30-point wins, reach 8-0

The RCHS Lady Cats are now 8-0 on their season thanks to two home wins by more than 30 points while the Wildcats are 4-4.   RCHS girls 57, Stephens County 25 Against Stephens County on Tuesday, Dec. 13, the Lady Cats clamped them down in the first half.

Lady Cats off to scorching 6-0 start to season

The Rabun County Lady Cats basketball team is off to a 6-0 start to their season, winning back-to-back home games on Friday and Saturday. “These back-to-back wins against rivals really speaks to the character of our team,” head coach DeeDee Dillard said.

The Rabun County High School boys basketball team is off to a 3-3 start to their season, splitting their first two home games of the season. With the season starting Nov. 26, RCHS did not have the entire roster until December due to six athletes also playing football.

Lady Indians drop six straight games

The Lady Indians had the daunting task of taking on undefeated and top-ranked Lake Oconee Academy on Wednesday night at home, and fell 48-32. TFS was well within striking distance heading into the final stanza. The visitors outpaced No.
