Rabun Gap’s Min claims STAR Student & picks Miller STAR Teacher

Aidan Min, a Class of 2023 boarding student from Seongnam-si, South Korea, has been named STAR Student at Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School, while Chip Miller earned the STAR Teacher recognition for 2023.

Franklin County fire destroys residential structure

ATLANTA – Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King recently announced that a residential structure on Pinehurst Road in Lavonia was destroyed by an evening fire on Jan. 24.

CLAYTON -- Volunteers returned to Warwoman Dell on Friday, Jan. 20, to remove 300 pounds of invasive plants and trash before many spring wildflowers emerge. English ivy had spread through the national forest from the beloved Warwoman Dell recreation area just outside of Clayton.

One for the Wall 2022-2023 Deer Contest winners announced as antlers showcased

The One for the Wall Deer Contest was back at the Rabun County Civic Center for the 2022-2023 event on Saturday, Jan. 28. Final measurements were taken as participants showcased their legally killed and Georgia tagged antlers. Organizers were Shayne Beck and Lee Callenback.

Rabun County High School senior band student Skylar Krockum is a leader to her classmates when it comes to music and learning as she was recently named the school’s 2022-2023 STAR Student.

Moratorium extended on non-traditional builds

The Rabun County Board of Commissioners approved the first reading of a resolution for a 12-month extension on the moratorium on non-traditional developments and building projects in unincorporated Rabun County at Tuesday’s meeting.
