Gubernatorial candidate campaigns at Parker Ranch in Clayton for 300-plus

Rabun County has become a political hotbed of activity and that looks like it will continue. Democratic nominee for governor Stacey Abrams and nominee for lieutenant governor Charlie Bailey addressed a crowd of an estimated 350 at the outdoor venue Parker Ranch on July 29.

Rabun’s classrooms filled with ‘class acts

Some local youth may not be ready for it to happen but a new school year is about ready to commence. Students in the Rabun County Schools System will have their first day of classes on Friday, Aug. 5. The Tallulah Falls Schools begin on Aug. 8 and Rabun Gap-Nacoochee Schools will start on Aug. 24.

Pedestrian struck, killed in crosswalk

A pedestrian in the crosswalk died after being struck by a vehicle on July 29 at the downtown East Savannah-Main Street intersection around 8:54 a.m. “It is now a confirmed fatal crash as of Saturday (July 30),” according to Georgia State Patrol (GSP).

Millage rollback for Rabun County Schools

  TIGER– The Rabun County School System won’t be seeing an increase in taxes this year as the Board of Education plans to rollback the millage rate to 8.375. This comes on the brink of the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year as students return to classes on Aug. 5.

Security at county educational facilities ramped up for upcoming year

TIGER– Rabun County Schools is ramping up security for the upcoming school year as students head back to the classroom Aug. 5.
