Rabun Republicans hold July 4 campaign event

The Rabun County Republicans held a “Get out the Vote” campaign sign waving and Bluegrass Festival at the Rock House in downtown Clayton July 4. The Republicans will be at the Foxfire Festival on Saturday, Oct. 1, for an outreach event.

The Rabun County Democrats met July 4 to strategize on party slogans. As Democrats prepare for the upcoming November election, they have worked as a team to create slogans that represent their values.

‘Sew’ glad if you would join Quilters’ Guild

I’ve always liked sewing and fancied myself a pretty good seamstress and quilter. So when I found too much free time on my hands (retired and kids moving away), I decided to take a friend up on her suggestion to join the Mountain Laurel Quilters’ Guild. The first meeting went fine.

Heritage Days at Foxfire a hit

MOUNTAIN CITY– Heritage Days at the Foxfire Museum in Mountain City was a success as crowds of people turned out for the two-day event full of demonstrations, crafts, food and music. “Heritage Days at Foxfire was a huge success,” said Todd Faircloth, executive director of The Foxfire Fund, Inc.

Tradition lives on for Independence Day celebrations at The Dillard House

Wooden Boats float down Lake Rabun for Independence Day celebrations

LAKE RABUN – Crowds flocked to Lake Rabun over the weekend for events on both land and sea to celebrate America’s birthday. Rabun residents and visitors got a running start participating in the Rabun Ramble that began and ended at the Lake Rabun Pavilion on July 2.
