Clayton council approves city management software purchase

Following a Sept. 14 work session discussion whether to purchase new software to better manage city departments, council voted to approve the purchase at its Tuesday regular monthly meeting. The decision was not without some on council expressing concern over the cost of the software modules.

Clayton council rolls back millage rate

Clayton residents will, in fact, see a change in their city taxes next year. But instead of keeping the millage rate at 8.769 mills, the current rate, Clayton City Council in a 3-2 split decision approved a tax rollback to 8.566 mills.

Activists continue cleanup in Stekoa Creek

Stekoa Creek is a site to see in Rabun County for travelers passing through on Highway 441. Although parts of the Chattooga’s free-flowing waters might be enjoyed by adventure seekers, Stekoa Creek has a long history of polluting the National Wild and Scenic Chattooga River.

Construction of Agricenter is on track

TIGER-- Construction is underway on Rabun County High School’s $7 million Agricenter, which will be the home of the Rabun County Future Farmers of America (FFA).

County declines Clayton's service delivery offer

County officials urged Clayton to “put this matter to rest” and rejected an offer from officials that was poised to settle the years-long Service Delivery Strategy (SDS) that has cost taxpayers over a million dollars.
