Fatal wreck in Tiger Sunday

TIGER-- A fatal accident involving a single vehicle occurred around midnight Sunday on Glassy Orchard Rd. near Bridge Creek Rd. in Tiger, according to the Motor Vehicle Crash Report from Georgia State Patrol (GSP).  The victim’s residence is on Glassy Orchard Rd., according to the report.

Fink remembered for service to Rabun

Robert Noble (Bob) Fink, Sr. had many accomplishments throughout his life. His dedicated service to the Rabun County community and love for its people is something many remember most about him.  Fink, 87 of Clayton died on June 9, 2021 after an extended illness.

Burn permits won't be required after July 1

Beginning July 1, 2021 the Georgia Forestry Commission no longer requires notification to issue a permit when someone burns hand-piled vegetation and yard debris.  This comes about from changes to Georgia’s Outdoor Burn Notification System, Senate Bill 119.

Playground equipment coming to city

The city of Clayton will soon be receiving new playground equipment. City Council Member John Bradshaw said that Lee Collenback at Pro Turf and Landscape Maintenance had a contract with Rabun County Schools to tear down the fourth grade playground equipment.

Rhapsody in Rabun now accepting 2022 applications

Rhapsody in Rabun is now accepting applicants for its “A Taste of the Mountains” Gala, which is scheduled for August 13, 2022.  Rhapsody in Rabun is a 501(c)(3) established in 1991 that raises money for other nonprofits in the community.

LRF boosts local dental clinic

The Lake Rabun Foundation recently donated $7,500 to Community Dental to purchase a flash sterilizer for dental instruments. This new piece of equipment will allow equipment sterilization to occur faster, better and is easier to use, said Tim Ranney, chairman of the Rotary Foundation.

Campaign raising funds to purchase EMS equipment

CLAYTON--A Rabun County man is spearheading a fundraising campaign, dubbed “PROJECT LIFE LYFT 626,”  to raise donations to help Rabun Emergency Medical Services (EMS) obtain automated hydraulic lifting equipment that would lift patients who are on stretchers into and out of ambulances.

Historical Society Museum to re-open Friday with new local history exhibits

CLAYTON—Rabun County Historical Society volunteers put their down time during the COVID-19 pandemic to good use. They have remodeled the interior of their 2,300 sq.-ft. museum at 81 North Church Street to accommodate exhibits related to Rabun County’s long and colorful history.
