The program is free for participating families and mails age-appropriate books to each child once a month, a newsletter that features book guides and activity pages as well as more resources to help get the most out of reading together as a family. Books can open up the imagination of the reader with endless possibilities for adventures. Reading is especially critical in the early years of life as children grow and develop.

Stephens is a ‘Pioneer In Education’

As a 25-year Rabun County Board of Education member, Wayne Stephens was an important part in making Rabun County Schools and its students successful. That’s why he is the recipient of the 2024 Pioneers in Education Award. The awards were held on Nov.

Students can REACH their full potential with scholarship program

Students at Rabun County Schools were recently given opportunities that support their education through the Realizing Educational Achievement Can Happen (REACH) Scholarship, Georgia’s mentorship and college scholarship program.

Lake Living cover winner donates to North Carolina Hurricane Relief efforts

The Northeast Georgia Mountains are beautiful any season of the year, so opportunities for great pictures present themselves all year long. This year’s Winter 2024 edition of Lake Living magazine features on its cover a snowy mountain view of Lake Burton taken by Chip Goen in Clayton.

A three-vehicle crash on Ramey Boulevard had one complaint of a possible injury as emergency vehicles blocked a portion of the roadway at Ga. 15 for a brief time following the crash that occurred around 7:44 p.m. Nov. 17. Brittany Rebecca Stewart, 35 of Toccoa, Ga.
