Tallulah Falls volleyball sweeps Rabun, White

The Tallulah Falls School volleyball team won twice in straight sets last Thursday, defeating Rabun County and White County at home.  In the Rabun match, Tallulah’s Rebekah Jennings went on a lengthy service streak in the first set, which her side won comfortably, 25-9.

ESPNU to shine national spotlight on Rabun County

While the Rabun County High football Wildcats will play before the ESPN cameras Friday night, the network’s visit is a chance for the entire Rabun community to soak in the national spotlight. Rabun County will host Prince Avenue Christian on ESPNU at 8 p.m.

Ridgeland is first up for 'Cats

Rabun County’s football opener Friday night promises to be a difficult assignment, as the Wildcats visit a Class 4A team coming off a region-title season.  RCHS and Ridgeland have never met before, but that changes in a 7:30 p.m. kickoff at Bowers and Painter Field in Rossville.

Frank Snyder Memorial Stadium will operate at 50-percent capacity according to COVID-19 football attendance guidelines released last week by Rabun County Schools.  Rabun’s COVID-19 policy touches on many areas, from ticketing to field access and concessions.

Target dates have been established for Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School to start the football season, and a schedule should be imminent.  The North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association, of which the school is a member, announced last week that full football practices can start Sept.

More than $37,000 was raised at the Sid Weber Memorial Cancer Fund’s (SWMCF) annual golf tournament Aug. 19 at the Sky Valley Country Club.

RCHS softball batters Towns County

Swatting 13 hits and getting two-hit pitching from Courtney Stewart, the Rabun County High softball team breezed, 9-0 at at Towns County last Thursday.  Stewart fired five innings from the pitching circle, and was 1-for-3 at the plate with a double, run scored and two driven home.

Wright, Wildcat girls run first at Banks

Molly Jo Wright crossed the finish line first individually Aug. 25 as the Rabun County High girls cross-country runners captured a season-opening 3K race at Banks County. Against the host school and Madison, Wright posted a 14:58.
