Ott sinks hole-in-one at Apple Mountain

Justin Ott of Lakemont recorded a hole-in-one at Apple Mountain Resort and Golf Club in Clarkesville on Sunday, Sept. 15.  According to Ott, he used a 52-degree wedge on the 128-yard sixth hole and hoped for the best.

Dawg fans need not worry after slim victory over Kentucky

I’ve got mixed feelings about this past weekend of college football. While there were some real snooze fests like Texas’ win over UT San Antonio or the Crimson Tide’s blowout of Wisconsin, there were some interesting matchups that surprised me.

Devils went down in the Georgia Mountains

Rabun County High School scored late to claim a come-back win over West Georgia power Bremen 24-21 on Friday the 13th.  The Wildcats looked scary-good early on against the Blue Devils by taking a 14-0 lead in the first quarter.

Early goals prove key for Eagles in 3-1 win

The Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School boys soccer team defeated Asheville Christian Academy (ACA) 3-1 in a home conference match on Tuesday, Sept. 10.  After the two-goal victory, the Eagles sport a 9-2-1 record and are 2-0 in conference play.

Westbrook runs strong as Rabun Rec XC has another successful Saturday

The Rabun County recreational cross country team traveled to Jefferson to compete in its third meet of the 2024 season on Saturday, Sept. 7.  “It was a good weekend to see where our runners are at the halfway mark of the regular season,” head coach Ed Eidson said in an email to The Clayton Tribune.

TFS softball makes history with first-ever wins

The wait is over as the Tallulah Falls School softball team notched its first wins of the 2024 season.  The Lady Indians defeated King’s Academy 15-3 and 15-13 on Saturday, Sept. 7, to improve their record to 2-9.

Super Eagles stand tall in Superdome

As if this season couldn’t get any crazier for the Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School football team, it got even crazier when the Eagles game versus Louisiana power John Curtis Christian (JCC) was moved to New Orleans’ Caesars Superdome, which is home to the NFL’s New Orleans Saints.
