Successful turnout for Holiday Market, Festival of Trees

The annual Holiday Market and Festival of Trees had a successful turnout as the Rabun County Civic Center was filled with people working on their holiday shopping the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving.    It was also an opportunity to give back to the community.

Sky Valley City Council members voted unanimously to reinstate Chief of Police Vaughn Estes according to the “council-approved employment contract” after meeting briefly in closed session to discuss personnel matters during Tuesday’s council meeting.

Over the upcoming hours to weeks, Rabun County will be busier than Rudolph leading the other reindeer and Santa on their rounds of delivering toys to good boys and girls.

Rotary Club of Clayton distributes dictionaries to third graders

The Rotary Club of Clayton recently distributed dictionaries to third grade students at Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School and Rabun County Elementary School. Students were all smiles with excitement as they received their dictionaries and immediately flipped through them.

Students at Rabun County Schools had the chance to REACH for college scholarships during a REACH Georgia Scholarship signing ceremony Nov. 16. The Realizing Educational Achievement Can Happen (REACH) Scholarship is the state of Georgia’s first needs-based mentorship and college scholarship program.
