Tallulah Falls, Sky Valley, Dillard House celebrate Independence Day with festivities

Rabun County was decorated in red, white and blue for Independence Day over the weekend and July 3 and 4 as crowds of people turned out to the Town of Tallulah Falls, City of Sky Valley,  The Dillard House and Lake Rabun for the annual Wooden Boat Parade to celebrate America’s birthday.

Painted Fern Art Festival brushes Clayton this weekend

**This article has been updated** CLAYTON– Clayton is the perfect canvas for the 2023 Painted Fern Art Festival presented by the North Georgia Arts Guild. The event will brush Rabun County this weekend, Saturday, July 8, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, July 9, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This time the youngest skier was 10 years old.

Commissioners approve $28.3 million budget

The Rabun County Board of Commissioners voted Tuesday to approve the FY 2024 budget in the amount of $28,391,121 during a special called meeting. At a June 15 meeting, Rabun County Board of Education members voted to approve the FY 2024 budget in the amount of $38,930,471.

Two-vehicle crash at Ingles results in charges

A two-vehicle crash at Ingles Wednesday morning resulted in an overturned Jeep and charges for a Sylva, N.C., man. Jose Gomez Gonzales was arrested and charged with no license; failure to yield; and improper left turn, according to the Clayton Police Department.

Rabun County 4-Hers splash into summer camp

Thirty Rabun County fifth and sixth grade 4-H’ers attended 4-H Summer Camp at the Wahsega 4-H Center in Dahlonega, Ga., during June 5-9. Students got to enjoy the cooler temperatures while climbing a wall, zip lining, and tubing down the Chestatee River.
