A Rabun County landmark has reached its centennial, but the celebration is only beginning. The Lake Rabun Hotel celebrated with music, dancing and an array of other activities on April 30. Organizers and managers from the hotel have events planned over the upcoming months on Sundays.

Clayton customers’ water rates increase 20% beginning July 1

CLAYTON– Clayton City water customers will see a rate increase of 20 percent beginning July 1. Customers will see this reflected as an increase of $5-$10 in their monthly bills, according to Jason Waldroup, public works director.

Local early voting continues through May 20

Voters began flocking to the polls Monday for early voting in the May 24 General Primary Election. Early voting began May 2 and ends May 20. Registered voters can cast their ballots at the Rabun County Board of Elections Office, 184 South Main St.

The cause of a structure fire in Clayton is under investigation by the Georgia State Fire Marshal’s Office, according to a statement from Rabun County Fire Services. Rabun County Fire Services responded to a structure fire at 798 Stekoa Falls Rd. in Clayton at 3:21 p.m. on March 27.
