Rabun County Library hosts ‘Food for Fines’

Beginning May 2-31, patrons of the Rabun County Public Library can pay overdue fines with canned food as part of the “Food for Fines” program. Each canned or non-perishable food item with an unexpired “use by” date that’s donated pays up to $1 in overdue fines.

RCHS top 3 seniors to speak at May 27 graduation ceremony

TIGER– The 2021-2022 school year is coming to an end, with the Rabun County High School graduation scheduled for Friday, May 27. For the graduating class of 2022, Jaycee Weber is Valedictorian; Aidan Thompson is Salutatorian; and Loren Stiles is Historian. Graduation is set for 8 p.m.

Sky Valley culvert project now complete; main entrance open for motorists

SKY VALLEY– The culvert project in Sky Valley is now complete. The main entrance to the Sky Valley Country Club was temporarily closed, beginning the second week in March, for repair of a large culvert, forcing motorists to use another entrance and exit into the majority of the town.

A rezoning request for a 20.15 acre property off of Highway 76 East from Agricultural (A) to Commercial Business (CB) for the purpose of building storage units was denied by Commissioners in a 3-2 vote at Tuesday’s meeting. Kent Woerner, Greg James and Scott Crane show their hands in favor of the motion to deny the rezoning, while Will Nichols and Tom Garrison voted in opposition to the motion.

County denies Highway 76 East rezoning in 3-2 vote

Rabun County commissioners denied a rezoning request for property off of Highway 76 East from Agricultural (A) to Commercial Business (CB) for the purpose of building storage units in a 3-2 vote Tuesday. The property is located on Highway 76 East across from Godfrey Cemetery.
