Strong nucleus is key for Lady Wildcat softball

Sometimes a team’s core is wrapped around one player or several. For first-year Rabun County High head softball coach Alma Arnold, that nucleus covers all 12 on her varsity roster.  “You take one away, and it’s going to be a significant difference, and it could be any one of the 12,” she said.

RCHS runners start season Saturday

The top two girls and boys runners return for the Rabun County High cross-country teams as they toe the starting line this weekend.  Coach April Adcock has 19 student-athletes total between the girls and boys squads, which will try to build on eighth- and 16th-place state finishes last season.

Lady Indian volleyball to lean on experienced group

As the 2021 inches closer to first serve, the Lady Indians are loaded with experience and talent despite losing one of the program’s top players in history in Katy Corbett. Corbett, a Mercer beach volleyball signee, along with two other seniors who graduated, left some holes to fill for TFS.

Italy experience sparks pro dreams of young soccer player

Rabun County native Carlos Lopez-Justus dreams of becoming a professional soccer player. He started playing soccer at the Rabun County Recreation Department when he was 5-years-old. He hopes to become like his favorite player, Portuguese soccer player Christian Ronaldo.

The Rabun County High volleyball program has a new head coach in its quest to return to the state tournament. April Jones was named head coach in April.

Plaisted finds her home in the outdoors

There is a natural draw for people who love to be outside.  For Tallulah Falls School seventh-grader Josie Plaisted, it’s being able to size herself up against creation, nurturing her mind, body and spirit.

Vanderbilt is choice for Eagles’ Agu

Rabun Gap-Nacoochee football prospect Darren Agu has switched gears, decommitting from Notre Dame last week and pledging to attend Vanderbilt.  “This was definitely one of the HARDEST decisions I’ve had to make,” the 6-foot-6, 235-pound defensive end tweeted July 11.
